We all may have gone a bit overboard this Valentine’s Day. I admit I started it. I got up extra early and made the kids a big Valentine’s Day breakfast (I felt a little guilty because I was going out to breakfast with my mom and sister AND I had to work today.)
First off, I made huge batch of heart shaped gluten free pancakes. I just free-styled these, super easy. Not always super accurate. Some of the pancakes came out looking like real hearts!
Next came the heart-shaped fried eggs (sunny side down, we are not a yolky people.) I used a heart-shaped form specifically for this. However, it was a cheap one and sucked. I had to do some trimming to get them into a remotely heart-y-like shape. And then I had to tell the kids that they were heart shaped. Not the result I was going for.
I fried up some sausage and bacon. And there you have it! Nothing says I love you like a plate full of cholesterol! Though I think the strawberries and whipped cream have a redeeming quality.
When I got into work, there on my desk was a really awesome surprise from my mom and sister! These may be pity flowers, but I’d like to point out that pity flowers are still prettier than no flowers!! Please note the yellow post-it. That’s how I know they really care! My sister gave me the card with cupid yesterday. We live to exchange goofy cards for every holiday! I mailed hers like two weeks ago. I couldn’t wait!
After a long but very productive day at work, I came home to find the kids had decorated the Valentine’s Day tree!! What, you don’t have one?
They also redid the holiday swag, cupid style! We’ve decided to leave the tree (it’s artificial, obviously, or it would be brown and completely devoid of needles!) and the swag up year round, redecorating each month according to it’s holiday. I am very excited to see what the St. Patrick’s Day tree is going to look like!
Sean and Skye also spent hours making me Valentine’s. These are priceless. Homemade Valentine’s are the BEST!
How did you and yours celebrate the big day?

YUM, that breakfast looks delicious. I just made pink pancakes.
