Today is the last day of school before Mid-Winter break. Which means Valentine’s Day parties. Remember as a kid, getting to pick out the boxes of Valentine’s to give to your classmates. And how it was SO important to get the “cool” ones – which back in my day involved Strawberry Shortcake and Carebears. Nowadays [...]

That one thing you can’t buy

I got the call a couple of weeks ago. Sean was having trouble in school. He’d been refusing to do his homework all week. When Friday rolled around, he was going to miss out on choosing a toy from the Treasure Chest. And he completely melted down. Desks were tipped over, books thrown in the [...]

I wish I could update more of what’s going on right now, maybe another time. Suffice it to say, I’m dealing with some things that aren’t really that fun. Kids are all fine, it’s just my own stuff. Speaking of, kids are doing great. Busy with school and friends. Valentine’s day is coming up and [...]

Because We Care!

Sean and Skye both received Citizenship Awards today at school. Last month’s focus was “caring”. Which is sort of awesome. I’m very proud! Each class chose one student who best exemplified this trait – and both of mine were chosen! My kids totally care!
Homework and Crocheted Flowers

Homework is a struggle for Sean. He refuses to do it if I am not home, sitting right there with him. He doesn’t need my help, he just needs my encouragement and presence. So I make room for him at my sewing desk. I can blog or websurf or Facebook and he gets his homework [...]

Last week I had the opportunity to take three of my children to a special Sneak Peek of the new Jackie Chan movie coming out this month The Spy Next Door. It was at a venue in San Francisco (The City, to us locals) which meant a drive across the Golden Gate Bridge. At rush [...]

This is the doll my mom gave Skye for Christmas. She looks exactly like Skye did at about 2 years old. She came fully clothed, but of course Skye stripped her naked within minutes. Why? Because that’s what 5 year olds do, I guess. Then she pretty much abandoned her. I’m hoping those maternal instincts [...]
Let’s Make a Turkey Dinner!

Today is Feast Prep Day! Tuesdays are my day off, and I’ll be spending this Tuesday cooking a turkey and all the fixin’s! We’ll be spending the majority of Turkey Day over at my parents with the extended fam that is around (which is still a helluva lot of people!) Heading over for breakfast and [...]
Feelings of Less than Adequacy

I worry about Sean. A lot. Probably too much. I’m one of those people who tends to borrow trouble. I worry about stuff that may or may not even happen. Like the bi-polar disorder. I have way too much experience dealing with someone with BPD and the fact that my son probably has it (and [...]
